This species, scientifically named Pusula pediculus (Linnaeus, 1758), has a maximum recorded shell length of 22 mm. In terms of distribution, it occurs in the Western Atlantic. Beached shells of this species are common in the Eastern Caribbean islands of the Lesser Antilles, where they are commonly called "puppy-eyes". Its habitat ranges from a minimum recorded depth of 0 m to a maximum recorded depth of 129 m.
