About Pulmonaria angustifolia L.
Pulmonaria angustifolia, commonly called narrow-leaved lungwort or blue cowslip, is a flowering plant species in the Boraginaceae family. It is native to central and north eastern Europe. This herbaceous perennial grows 30 cm (12 in) tall and 45 cm (18 in) wide. It has hairy oval leaves, and produces masses of bright blue flowers in spring. Its subspecies azureus bears brighter blue flowers. The botanical Latin specific epithet angustifolia translates to "narrow-leaved". Despite sharing the common name "blue cowslip", it is not closely related to the true cowslip, Primula veris. When grown in cultivation, it prefers moist soil and dappled shade.
