About Pulchrana glandulosa (Boulenger, 1882)

This species was originally described as Hylarana glandulosa, and its currently accepted scientific name is Pulchrana glandulosa (Boulenger, 1882). It is a species of true frog, commonly known by the common names rough-sided frog and glandular frog. It is native to Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forest, subtropical or tropical swampland, rivers, freshwater marshes, caves, and plantations. The International Union for Conservation of Nature does not consider this species threatened. In Thailand, this frog is called h̄mā n̂ảm (Thai script: หมาน้ำ), which literally translates to water dog. This name comes from the fact that the frog’s call sounds like a barking puppy.
