About Puccinellia nuttalliana (Schult.) Hitchc.
Puccinellia nuttalliana (Schult.) Hitchc. is a species of grass with the common name Nuttall's alkaligrass. It is native to North America, where it occurs widely from Alaska east through all of Canada to Greenland, and is common in the western and central United States. It grows in the Arctic, across temperate mountain ranges, the Great Plains, the Great Basin, and along North America's western coastline extending south into California. This is a halophytic grass that grows in areas with saline soils. It is a perennial bunchgrass with variable form: it can stay small and clumped, or grow erect stems up to one meter tall. Its inflorescence consists of a small number of thin, spreading branches. As the fruit matures, these branches spread further and sometimes curve backward.
