About Pubitelphusa latifasciella (Chambers, 1875)
Pubitelphusa latifasciella, commonly known as the white-banded telphusa moth, is a moth species belonging to the family Gelechiidae. This species is native to North America, and has been officially recorded in the following regions: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Ontario, Quebec, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wisconsin. The forewings of this moth are dark brown, featuring a broad white fascia located just before the middle of the wing. This fascia is widest at the dorsal margin, and is edged on its front side by two small raised tufts of white scales: one positioned above the fold, and the other below the fold. Directly behind the fascia lies a transverse row of raised dark brown scales. From this row to the start of the cilia, the wing remains dark brown; the cilia themselves are gray due to a heavy mixture of white scales. A small, irregular patch of dark brown scales is present at the wing apex. Nearly aligned with the start of the cilia are two raised tufts of dark brown scales. Just behind these tufts is an indistinct, narrow, curved gray fascia.
