Ptychadena nilotica is a species of frog belonging to the family Ptychadenidae. This species occurs in the upper reaches of the Nile and its major tributaries, across Egypt, Sudan, South Sudan, Ethiopia, Burundi, Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. It may also be present in Djibouti, Eritrea, and Somalia. Its natural habitats include wetlands near rivers, large lakes, swamps, freshwater marshes, and springs, alongside dry savanna, subtropical or tropical dry shrubland, arable land, and irrigation canals and ditches.
