This plant is scientifically named Ptilotus schwartzii Tate. It is a perennial herb that grows between 0.2 and 1 meter tall, on sand or sandy clay soils. Its stems are slender, wiry, and dull blue-green in color. It produces white, pink, or purple flowers from March to October, and grows near streams on sandplains. Ptilotus schwartzii is endemic to Australia, where it occurs in Western Australia, South Australia, the Northern Territory, and Queensland.
