About Ptilotula flavescens (Gould, 1840)

The yellow-tinted honeyeater, with the scientific name Ptilotula flavescens, is a bird species that belongs to the honeyeater family Meliphagidae. This species is found in northern Australia, specifically in the regions of Western Australia, the Northern Territory, and Queensland, as well as in Papua New Guinea. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests, and subtropical or tropical mangrove forests. Previously, the yellow-tinted honeyeater was classified within the genus Lichenostomus. A 2011 published molecular phylogenetic analysis demonstrated that the original genus Lichenostomus was polyphyletic, so this species was moved to the genus Ptilotula.
