Ptilium crista-castrensis (Hedw.) De Not., commonly called knights plume moss or ostrich-plume feathermoss, is a species of moss in the family Pylaisiaceae. It belongs to the class Bryopsida, subclass Bryidae, and order Hypnales. This species grows on the forest floor of Canadian boreal forests and many forests across northern Europe. It appears in the black spruce/feathermoss climax forest, which typically has a moderately dense canopy, and its forest floor is covered in feathermosses including Hylocomium splendens, Pleurozium schreberi, and Ptilium crista-castrensis itself.
