Ptilinopus leclancheri (Bonaparte, 1855) is a medium-sized bird in the pigeon and dove family Columbidae, growing up to 27 cm (11 inches) in length. Males are colorful, with green bellies and wings, a brown tail, and whitish grey heads and necks with a purple base. They have red irises, a yellow bill, and a small black patch under the bill. Females have green heads, necks, and breasts. eBird describes the species' song as a deep, throaty "rrrooooooo" that does not carry far. Its natural habitats are tropical moist lowland primary forest and secondary forest, found up to 1,000 meters above sea level. It occurs in lowland forests up to 700 meters above sea level in Taiwan and the Philippines, where it is fairly common overall. On Taiwan, the species is very rare, and is only known from four specimens. Its diet consists mainly of fruits. Females typically lay a single white egg in a nest built from twigs.
