About Ptilimnium capillaceum (Michx.) Raf.
Ptilimnium capillaceum (Michx.) Raf. grows to heights between 1 and 8 decimeters, which is approximately 4 to 31 inches. Its leaves are pinnate. This species is distributed across the eastern and central United States, extending west to Texas and south to Miami-Dade and Collier counties in Florida. On the southeastern coastal plain of the United States, Ptilimnium capillaceum grows in wiregrass and slashpine habitats, flatwoods, and various types of hammocks. It can grow in locations that receive either full sun or full shade. It tolerates a range of soil types, including loamy sand, peaty soil, and clay.
