Ptilidium pulcherrimum (Weber) Vain. is a leafy liverwort. It shows coloration ranging from reddish to yellowish-green, and has distinct deeply divided leaf margins. This species grows in dense patches that lie close to tree bark, and has a pinnate branching growth pattern. Its stems are usually hidden by overlapping leaves; individual leaves measure 1.8 mm (0.07 in) wide and 1.4 mm (0.06 in) long. This liverwort most commonly grows on the trunks or branches of living trees and shrubs, but it can also be found growing on fallen logs or boulders.
