Pteruthius xanthochlorus J.E.Gray & G.R.Gray, 1847 is a bird species that reaches approximately 13 centimeters in total length. Males of this species have a grey head with a blackish crown, an olive-green back, pale ashy grey throat and breast, and a yellow belly. Females have slightly duller plumage than males and a greyish crown. This species occurs in Bhutan, China, India, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, and Vietnam. Within India, it can be found in Darjeeling, Sikkim, Uttrakhand, and Arunachal Pradesh. Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical moist montane forests. During most seasons, it typically inhabits deciduous and coniferous forests at altitudes between 2100 and 3000 meters above sea level, though it may move to lower altitudes during the winter.
