About Pterospoda nigrescens (Hulst, 1898)

Pterospoda nigrescens is a moth species belonging to the family Geometridae. It lives at moderate elevations in arid scrub and open woodland habitats. Its distribution ranges from southeastern Arizona and the Edwards Plateau of west-central Texas south to at least Durango, Mexico. It has not been recorded in New Mexico, but it is expected to occur there. The wingspan of this species is approximately 24 mm. It has at least two flight periods per year, which primarily fall in April and August in Arizona. Its larvae have been reared on Condalia species, most likely Condalia warnockii var. kearneyana.
