About Pteronia pallens L.fil.

Pteronia pallens L.fil. is a small shrub that has a pale woody stem. Its leaves are green, slender, blunt-ended, and channeled. One to three rounded, discoid flower heads grow at the tips of the branches; this feature helps distinguish Pteronia pallens from the otherwise similar species Pteronia paniculata. This species is distributed across the western Little Karoo, the western Great Karoo, and extends into the Northern Cape Province. It most commonly grows on lower slopes, in silt or sand that is often calciferous, and this substrate frequently overlies calcrete.
