About Pteris umbrosa R.Br.

Pteris umbrosa R.Br., commonly known as jungle brake, is a fern species native to eastern Australia. Its typical habitat is rainforest, where it can grow into large colonies in shaded, moist locations. Several populations of this fern are found in the northern suburbs of Sydney, but it remains uncertain whether these populations are indigenous to the area or escapees from cultivated garden plants. Botanist Robert Brown first published this species in 1810, in his work Prodromus Florae Novae Hollandiae.
