Pteris biaurita L., commonly known as the thinleaf brake, is a species of fern belonging to the genus Pteris. This species has a wide global distribution, covering regions in Africa, the Americas, and Asia. Mature plants grow 70 to 110 centimeters tall, and have erect, woody rhizomes that measure 2 to 2.5 centimeters in diameter. The apex of the rhizome is densely covered in brown scales.
