About Ptereleotris hanae (Jordan & Snyder, 1901)

Ptereleotris hanae (Jordan & Snyder, 1901), commonly known as the blue gudgeon dartfish or blue hana goby, is a species of dartfish native to the western Pacific Ocean. This species is a reef inhabitant, found at depths ranging from 3 to 50 metres (9.8 to 164.0 ft), though it usually does not occur in waters shallower than 6 metres (20 ft). It lives in burrows constructed by alpheid shrimp. However, unlike Amblyeleotris gobies that typically associate with these alpheid shrimp, Ptereleotris hanae has no interactions with its shrimp hosts. This species can reach a total length of 12 centimetres (4.7 in), and it is available in the aquarium trade.
