About Psoralea pinnata L.

Psoralea pinnata L. has fine, deep green, deeply divided linear leaves that are approximately 40 millimetres (2 inches) long. Its linear leaf blades grow in crowded alternate spirals, measure 0.8 millimetres to 2 millimetres in width, and taper from the base. This plant produces sweet-scented, pea-shaped flowers that can be white, lilac, or blue. It flowers between October and December, with blooms forming large clusters at the ends of branches. After flowering, the plant develops small seed pods, each holding a single dark brown seed. Psoralea pinnata is native to South Africa. It has also become an established alien species in other countries, especially in Southern Australia and New Zealand.
