About Psilopogon faber (Swinhoe, 1870)
The Chinese barbet, scientifically named Psilopogon faber, is a bird species that belongs to the family Megalaimidae. This species was first formally described by Robert Swinhoe in 1870. It is endemic to southern China. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests, and subtropical or tropical moist montane forests. This species is currently threatened by habitat loss. Psilopogon faber was previously classified as a subspecies of the black-browed barbet, Psilopogon oorti.
