About Pseudotsuga sinensis var. sinensis

Pseudotsuga sinensis var. sinensis belongs to Pseudotsuga sinensis, a conifer species commonly called Chinese Douglas-fir; its Chinese name is 黃杉, with the pinyin romanization huáng shān, and it is a member of the Pinaceae family. It is a tree that can grow up to 50 metres (160 ft) tall. Its natural range includes Anhui, Fujian, Guangxi, Guizhou, Hubei, Hunan, Jiangxi, Shaanxi, Sichuan, Yunnan, and Zhejiang provinces in China, as well as Taiwan and the northernmost parts of Vietnam. Its timber is used for construction, bridge building, furniture, and producing wood fiber. The variety Pseudotsuga sinensis var. wilsoniana, known as Taiwan Douglas-fir, is sometimes treated as a separate species, Pseudotsuga wilsoniana. This Taiwan-restricted variety is geographically isolated from the Chinese var. sinensis, but it is not clearly distinct from var. sinensis in terms of morphology.
