About Pseudophilautus amboli (Biju & Bossuyt, 2009)
The Amboli bush frog, scientifically named Pseudophilautus amboli, is a small frog that falls into the medium to large size range among other species in its group. Male Amboli bush frogs reach 34 mm (1.3 in) snout–vent length, while females grow up to 37.5 mm (1.48 in). Males have a large, transparent vocal sac when calling. The species has a fairly robust body, with greatly enlarged discs on its fingertips. Its tympanum is dark brown, and its dorsum is a uniform blackish brown. The throat is lemon yellowish with tiny black spots. In Amboli, this frog has been found in heavily disturbed areas adjacent to patches of evergreen forest; it remains unknown whether it also occurs in primary evergreen forest. It breeds through direct development.
