About Pseudolycopodium densum (Rothm.) Holub

Pseudolycopodium is a genus of lycophyte in the family Lycopodiaceae that contains only one species: Pseudolycopodium densum, commonly known as the bushy clubmoss. Under the Pteridophyte Phylogeny Group 2016 classification (PPG I), this genus is placed in the subfamily Lycopodioideae. Some taxonomic sources do not recognize the genus Pseudolycopodium, and instead sink it into the broader genus Lycopodium. Pseudolycopodium densum is a spore-bearing vascular plant that can grow up to one metre in height. It is native to Australia, the North Island of New Zealand, and New Caledonia, and grows in a wide range of settings, most often in high rainfall areas on sandy soils. When treated under the synonym Lycopodium deuterodensum, it is recorded growing in open forest, scrub, or heath in eastern New South Wales, southern Victoria, Tasmania (including the Bass Strait Islands), Queensland, South Australia, the North Island and Chatham Islands of New Zealand, and New Caledonia.
