About Pseudoips prasinana (Linnaeus, 1758)
This species, Pseudoips prasinana (Linnaeus, 1758), has the following technical description and variation. The forewing is yellow green, with a pink costal edge that becomes more diffused toward the apex. The inner marginal area is suffused with pink, except toward the base. The inner and outer lines are oblique, darker green, and edged with white on the opposite side; the outer line is sometimes pink. The subterminal line is white and curves into the apex. The fringe is pink, with a white line at its base. The hindwing is yellow. The fringe is pale pink, and white at the tips from the apex to vein 2. The abdomen is white, and dorsally suffused with yellow. In females, the abdomen is white, tinged with brown at the base. Females also have a white costal edge on the forewing, a yellow inner margin on the forewing, and a white hindwing. The British subspecies, P. p. britannica subsp. nov. (53 k), has all three lines colored silvery white. In males of this subspecies, the costal and inner margins are reddish only at the apex and tornus, respectively. In the aberration P. p. rufilinea ab. nov. (= ab. 2 Hmps.) (53 k), the outer line is marked with red. The larva is apple green, coarsely shagreened with yellow. It has a yellow subdorsal line, and segment 2 has a red rim along its front edge.
