About Psathyrella uliginicola McKnight & A.H.Sm.
Psathyrella uliginicola McKnight & A.H.Sm., also known as Coprinopsis uliginicola, is an agaric fungus species that belongs to the family Psathyrellaceae. It was formally described by mycologists Kent McKnight and Alexander H. Smith in 1972. In 2015, Leif Örstadius and Ellen Larsson reclassified this species into the genus Coprinopsis, using DNA sequence data collected from the species' holotype to support the reclassification. This fungus is found in the United States. The paratype collection of the species was collected by Alexander H. Smith in 1962 from Nez Perce National Forest, located in Idaho. Smith recorded that the species also grows in New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming. In these locations, it grows in wet areas under brush, or on decaying aspen wood.
