Prunus fremontii S.Watson is a deciduous shrub or small tree that can grow up to 5 metres (16 feet) tall. Its flowers are white or pink, and they bloom in spring at roughly the same time that new leaves unfurl. This species produces yellow, egg-shaped fruits. The fruits are an important food source for Native American groups, including the Cahuilla.
