About Proxenus miranda Grote, 1873

Proxenus miranda, commonly known as the miranda moth or glistening rustic, is a moth species belonging to the family Noctuidae. This moth is distributed across most of North America. In western North America, its recorded range extends south through California to Arizona, and along the Rocky Mountains to Colorado. In eastern North America, it occurs from southern Canada south to South Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas. Its preferred habitat is moist, open forests and grasslands. The wingspan of adult Proxenus miranda measures approximately 23 to 27 mm. Adults are active from May to October, producing two generations each year. The larvae of this species feed on a variety of herbaceous plants, including species from the genera Taraxacum, Fragaria, and Medicago.
