About Prosoponoides sinense (Chen, 1991)

This species is Prosoponoides sinense (Chen, 1991). Adult males of this species have a total body length of approximately 2.05 mm. The male cephalothorax measures 0.85 mm long by 0.90 mm wide, while the male abdomen measures 1.20 mm long by 0.75 mm wide. The male carapace is yellow, with dark brown coloring along its foveal and radial grooves. The male abdomen is yellow, marked with a central longitudinal stripe and several transverse bands, where the posterior markings are darker than the anterior ones. Adult females are larger than adult males, with a total body length of approximately 2.95 mm. The female cephalothorax measures 1.05 mm long by 1.00 mm wide, and the female abdomen measures 1.90 mm long by 1.20 mm wide. Females are generally darker in overall coloration than males. Their abdominal markings are more pronounced, and these markings are surrounded by silvery scale-like patterns. Prosoponoides sinense has been recorded from China, Vietnam, and peninsular Malaysia. Within China, the species has been found in the regions of Zhejiang Province, Fujian Province, Yunnan Province, and Chongqing. This species has been collected in mountainous regions, at elevations between 900 and 1700 meters above sea level.
