About Proserpinus terlooii Edwards, 1875
Proserpinus terlooii (also commonly referred to as the Terloo sphinx moth) is a moth species belonging to the family Sphingidae. It was first formally described by Henry Edwards in 1875. This species ranges from southern Arizona in the United States to Sonora, Mexico. The wingspan of adult moths measures 42 to 48 millimeters. Proserpinus terlooii produces one generation each year, with adult individuals active on the wing during July and August. Adult moths fly during very late afternoon or evening, and they feed on nectar from flowers. The larvae of this moth feed on plants from the genus Boerhavia, specifically including Boerhavia coccinea and Boerhavia coulteri.
