About Procris repens (Lour.) B.J.Conn & Hadiah
Procris repens (Lour.) B.J.Conn & Hadiah is a small herbaceous creeper. It can grow up to 15 cm (5.9 in) tall and 60 cm (24 in) long. Its leaves have toothed edges, and typically measure 2.5 to 10 cm (0.98 to 3.94 in) in length and 2 to 5 cm (0.79 to 1.97 in) in width. The leaves have a distinctive patterning that resembles watermelon rinds or the foliage of some Begonia species, and may fade to a uniform purple or brown color as the plant ages. This species has a broad distribution, ranging from southern China to Indonesia, and grows primarily in primary forests within tropical and subtropical climates. Ecologically, Procris repens acts as a food plant for caterpillars of multiple Hypolimnas species.
