About Prochoreutis inflatella Clemens, 1863

Prochoreutis inflatella, commonly known as the skullcap skeletonizer moth, is a moth species in the Choreutidae family. It is native to eastern North America. This species has a wingspan ranging from 9 to 11 mm. Adult moths are active in flight from June through September, and the species produces several generations each year. The larvae of Prochoreutis inflatella feed on plants from the Scutellaria genus, including the species Scutellaria lateriflora. The first larvae of the year emerge in March, very soon after their host plants start new growth. Pupation takes place inside a fusiform, multi-layered cocoon made from white silk.
