About Probergrothius nigricornis

Probergrothius nigricornis is a species of bug that occurs in tropical Asia. This bug primarily feeds on the seeds of plants in the order Malvales. All of its antennae are black; the first and second antennal segments are nearly equal in length, while the third segment is the shortest. Its fore femora have a serrated edge along the underside. The closely related species P. sanguinolens, which shares an overlapping distribution with Probergrothius nigricornis, can be distinguished by its pale terminal antennal segment, and by having a second antennal segment that is longer than the first.
