About Pristurus sokotranus Parker, 1938

The Socotra rock gecko, scientifically named Pristurus sokotranus, is a species of lizard in the family Sphaerodactylidae that is found only on Socotra Island. Phylogenetic research has confirmed that P. sokotranus is paraphyletic. DNA barcoding analysis of the cytochrome c oxidase subunit I (COI) gene has detected roughly 9% intraspecific genetic divergence, a result that aligns with the existence of unrecognized cryptic lineages within the species.
