It preys on the bronze orange bug, Musgraveia sulciventris, which is a common garden pest. It is sometimes referred to as the bee-killer assassin bug, because it is also known to hunt and eat honey bees. Its juvenile nymphs, or instars, have a distinctive bright orange abdomen.
