This species, Prionovolva brevis, has an adult shell size that ranges from 6 mm to 22 mm. It occurs in two ocean basins: the Pacific Ocean, where it is found along the coasts of Japan, Taiwan, the Philippines, Papua New Guinea, and New South Wales, Australia; and the Indian Ocean, where it is distributed along the coast of Somalia.
