About Prinia familiaris Horsfield, 1821

Bar-winged prinia, scientifically known as Prinia familiaris Horsfield, 1821, is a distinct member of the prinia group. Adults measure 13 centimetres (5.1 in) in length, and weigh between 8 and 10 grams (0.28–0.35 oz). This species is endemic to Indonesia, found on the islands of eastern Sumatra, Java, and Bali. It lives in a wide variety of habitats, ranging from sea-level mangrove forests to montane forests. It can also tolerate human-modified environments including gardens, parks, and plantations. Humans commonly share its range, and the species is able to adapt well to human-altered landscapes. Because of this adaptation, it is not considered threatened with extinction.
