About Primulaceae

Primulaceae is a plant family that shares a consistent set of morphological characteristics. Members of the family have haplostemonous flowers, with an equal number of petals and stamens; a sympetalous corolla, where petals are united; stamens positioned opposite the petals; free central placentation; bitegmic ovules that have two layers; and nuclear endosperm formation. The family has a cosmopolitan, worldwide distribution. A British National Collection of Double Primroses is maintained at Glebe Garden in North Petherwin, North Cornwall.
