Prestoea acuminata (Willd.) H.E.Moore is a palm tree species that is native to Central America, the West Indies, and South America. It was previously harvested widely for palmito in Ecuador. Due to overharvesting, this palm has become uncommon, and is no longer commercially harvested at a large scale.
