It has been recently introduced to North America, where it can be found in multiple states, ranging as far north as Maryland. The larvae of Porphyrosela minuta feed on Medicago sativa and species from the genus Trifolium, including Trifolium pratense. The larvae create mines within the leaves of their host plants.
