This species is scientifically classified as Popplepsalta rubristrigata (Goding & Froggatt, 1904). The forewing of Popplepsalta rubristrigata measures between 26 and 28 mm in length. The species occurs in a cool temperate climate zone. Its range extends from Mudgee in New South Wales, south along the Great Dividing Range into Victoria, then west to Adelaide and Kangaroo Island in South Australia. This species is associated with open eucalypt forest habitats, and is often found near watercourses.
