Pontia occidentalis, commonly called the western white, is a butterfly in the family Pieridae. It can be found in Western North America. This species has a wingspan of 38 to 53 millimeters. Its caterpillars use host plants from Brassicaceae, the mustard or cabbage family, feeding especially on the plants' flowers, buds and fruit. In the northern part of its range, one generation of adults is active in June and July; in the southern portion, two generations fly from May to August.
