Pompelon marginata is a mid-sized day-flying moth. It has predominantly black, rounded wings that feature iridescent blue margins. A red band shaped like a collar surrounds its head. The species shows stark contrast across its body: its dorsal side is dark, while its thorax and abdomen are bright red. Each segment of the abdomen has a series of black dots. Its legs are black with a blue metallic sheen.
