About Pomatoschistus marmoratus (Risso, 1810)

Pomatoschistus marmoratus, commonly known as the marbled goby, is a species of goby. It is native to the eastern Atlantic, ranging from the Bay of Biscay south around the Iberian Peninsula, and can also be found throughout the Mediterranean Sea, the Black Sea, and the Sea of Azov. This species also occurs in the Suez Canal in Egypt. It inhabits shallow marine and brackish waters with sandy substrates, typically found at depths down to 20 m (66 ft), though it may occasionally go as deep as 70 m (230 ft) during the winter. This goby can grow up to 8 cm (3.1 in) in total length, though most individuals do not exceed 5 centimetres (2.0 in) total length.
