Pomatorhinus hypoleucos, originally described by Blyth in 1844 and also known by the alternate scientific name Erythrogenys hypoleucos, has the common name large scimitar babbler. It is a bird species that belongs to the family Timaliidae. This species is distributed across Bangladesh, Cambodia, China, India, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forest, and subtropical or tropical moist montane forest.
