About Pomacentrus chrysurus Cuvier, 1830
Pomacentrus chrysurus (Cuvier, 1830) reaches a maximum total length of 9 centimetres (3.5 inches). It has 13 dorsal spines, 14 to 16 dorsal soft rays, 2 anal spines, and 15 to 16 anal soft rays. The upper body of this fish is orange, while the lower body is blue or bluish gray. A black spot is present on the dorsal fin. A blue outline borders this black spot, the upper edge of the dorsal fin, and the lower edges of the anal and pelvic fins. The blue outline on the pectoral and anal fins is itself edged with black. The caudal fin is transparent. This species occurs in the Indo-Pacific region. In the Indian Ocean, it is found around Christmas Island, and most of its population lives in the Pacific Ocean. Within the Pacific, its range covers Indonesia, the Philippines, the Ryukyu Islands of Japan, Australia, and the Solomon Islands. It inhabits depths from 0 to 3 metres (0.0 to 9.8 ft). Adult individuals live among coral or rocky outcrops adjacent to sandy areas.
