Polytaenia nuttallii DC. is a species of flowering plant in the carrot family, with the common names Nuttall's prairie parsley and simply prairie parsley. It is native to the central and midwestern United States. This plant is a biennial or perennial herb that can grow up to 1 meter tall. Its inflorescence consists of many small yellow flowers arranged in umbels. Its leaves can reach up to 18 centimeters long, are divided into toothed lobes, clasp the stem at their bases, and are mostly alternately arranged, while upper leaves may be oppositely arranged. The plant takes on a yellowish color during spring and summer. It grows in prairies, glades, and open woods, and is very common on roadsides in some areas. This species is used in prairie habitat restoration projects, and may also be planted as an ornamental.
