About Polystichum kruckebergii W.H.Wagner

Polystichum kruckebergii W.H.Wagner is a species of fern with the common names Kruckeberg's sword fern and Kruckeberg's hollyfern. This species is native to western North America, with a range extending from Alaska to California to Utah. It grows in rocky mountain habitats located in subalpine and alpine climates. The fern produces several narrow, erect fronds (leaves) that reach 10 to 25 centimeters in length. Each frond is composed of many individual oval to triangular leaflets, none of which grow longer than approximately 1.5 centimeters. The leaflets overlap, and are somewhat twisted along their axes. The edges of the leaflets are cut or toothed, and the teeth sometimes have spines at their tips.
