About Polyphylla crinita LeConte, 1856

Identification: This species is commonly confused with Polyphylla decemlineata, which is also called the ten-lined June beetle. The long-haired June beetle, Polyphylla crinita, has setae, or hair, on its pronotum. In contrast, the ten-lined June beetle Polyphylla decemlineata has scales on its pronotum. Because of this subtle difference, high-resolution photos are needed to tell these two species apart.
