Polyphaenis sericata, commonly known as the Guernsey underwing, is a moth species belonging to the family Noctuidae. It was first formally described by Eugenius Johann Christoph Esper in 1787. This species is distributed across Europe and Asia. The adult moth has a wingspan that measures 38–44 millimetres, which is equivalent to 1.5–1.7 inches. The larvae of Polyphaenis sericata feed on a variety of different herbaceous plants, with common host plants including privet, honeysuckle, and dogwood.
