About Polygonum tenue Michx.

Polygonum tenue Michx., commonly called slender knotweed or pleat-leaf knotweed, is a species of plant in the buckwheat family that is native to North America. It has a widespread distribution across south-central Canada (specifically Ontario) and the eastern and central United States, ranging from Maine to Georgia in the east, and stretching west to Minnesota, South Dakota, Nebraska, and Texas. Currently, it is apparently extirpated from both Maine and New Hampshire. Polygonum tenue is an herbaceous plant that grows up to 50 cm (20 in) tall. Its stems are green or brown in color and are not wiry in texture. The plant produces narrow leaves that reach up to 4 cm (1.6 in) in length. Its flowers can be either pink or white.
